A legend tells that a long time ago, moths were as colourful as butterflies.

One day, the sky filled with clouds. The angels were crying because they could not look down and see the people.
They made rain fall down from the sky.
The moths did not like to see the angels sad. They wanted to make a rainbow.

The moths asked the butterflies for help.
If everyone gave a little bit of colour, they could make a beautiful rainbow!
But the butterflies did not want to help.
They wanted to keep their colours.

So the moths tried by themselves.
They beat their wings hard until all the colours flew off their wings.
Slowly, a big rainbow came out.
The angels smiled. They could see the people again!

That is why moths are brown and why there is no brown in the rainbow.
