We can use a noun after the verb be. We went over the different forms of be in the last lesson, which are: am, is, are. The nouns after be are used to describe the subject of the sentence.

A studio is a small apartment.

We can use a noun after a preposition. After many prepositions, nouns tell us about certain places.
- My mom is on the telephone.
- The Thai restaurant is near the city.
- Mr. Josh is in town.
- My friend is from San Francisco.
