Our HR team at Smrt English will plan, coordinate, and direct the administrative functions of the  organization. This department will oversee hiring employees, consultation with leadership, and strategic planning with management.

Key HR Areas


  • Compliance
      1. Smrt Policy Manual- review all terms and segments. Refer back as needed.
      2. Review Regional Regulations in policy for your region.
      3. Health & Safety- Ensure all actions you take for yourself and other team members are safe. Reference the BC working from home PDF for best practice guidelines.
  • Recruitment
      1. Job descriptions- limited to Admin staff
      2. Recruiter(s) (Humi)
      3. KPIs- Refer to your team lead for specific job performance indicators.
      4. Scheduling and Time Tracking
        1. Optimized schedules (OT/ time off, sick leave, parental leave etc.) 
        2. Call to Action- Create an optimized schedule for your workflow
      5. Document time off and vacations or sick days with Humi
        1. Call to Action- Sign in and review the process to select time off or sick days before you need to use them.
  • Compensation & Benefits
      1. Payroll through Wave
        1. Note- Sign in and review information and process. You will receive an email when payroll is sent out.

  • Performance Management

Be prepared for performance reviews along your path at Smrt. Team members will be expected to showcase their work/ projects/sales to their leadership and administration at key points for review.

  1. Continuous feedback to and from team members (email/ meetings)
  2. Once a year performance evaluation review. (meeting and notes recorded in Humi)
  3. Once a quarter reviews from management (meeting and notes recorded as needed in Humi)
  4. Issues & Discipline recorded and documented (Humi)

  • Employee Relationships

It is important to maintain respectful working relationships with all members of the team. Conflict resolution should be invoked to higher management when civil resolutions between parties are not clarifying a conflict. Any Leadership member can assist and please email as soon as needed. 

  • Peer Mentoring- Available and encouraged within teams, it may come in in daily meetings or be something requested to your team lead.
  • Team Building- Team building days, or weeks are set by team leads and can range from events, lunches or brainstorming sessions. 
  • Feedback- Feedback forms or questionnaires will be circulated to you as an employee a few times per year on a variety of topics. Please take a few moments to fill them out in a timely manner.
