Students practice the different present tenses in English and the sometimes subtle difference in meaning the tenses may infer.

Understanding Stative & Dynamic Verbs

Students practice distinguishing between verbs that have stative meanings vs. verbs that have dynamic meanings.

Listening Speaking Grammar
2-1 Long Time No See

Activity based on friends catching up after not seeing each other for a few years. They discuss what they've been doing recently. 

2-2 More Space

A discussion between a husband and wife about the need for a bigger home. Exercise is meant to be used as a lead-in activity for Grammar 2-3 State & Dynamic Verbs.

2-3 Mobile Office

Listening based off of a new trend in cars that are built to suit the modern business person.

Students practice the meaning, form, and usage of the Present Simple and Present Continuous.

2-2 State & Dynamic Verbs

Students are exposed to a large list of state verbs and how they are used differently compared to dynamic verbs. Grammar 2-2 also presents verbs that have both stative and dynamic usages.

2-3 Present Passive

Students practice making sentences in the passive voice using the Present Simple and Continuous tenses.

2-2 Craigslist

Students work with a partner and use the popular website, Craigslist, to research rental properties for their future business.

2-1 Simple Sentences

Students learn the features of a simple sentence, then do an exercise identifying subjects and main verbs.

2-2 Prepositional Phrases

This lesson focuses on the function of prepositional phrases. Students learn what they are, how to identify them, and how to use them to improve reading and writing skills.

2-3 Paragraph

Students write a paragraph describing their home.
