Intro Student 1 Student 2

Students work in pairs and open the corresponding pages below.

On each page, students are presented with five sentences. During Student One's turn, he or she will read one sentence to Student Two. Student Two will listen and then rephrase the sentence, using one of the verbs studied in Grammar 2-2. Student One then checks that Student Two's answer matches the one on Student One's page.

If Student Two has no idea, Student One should help Student Two by providing him or her the verb in the answer.

  • You want to say your country doesn't have enough public transportation.
    • My country lacks public transportation.
  • You want to say it isn't fair your sister has a nice car.
    • My sister doesn't deserve to have a nice car.
  • You want to ask your friend if they have to pay you back money.
    • Do you owe me money?
  • You want to know if your partner has the same opinion as you.
    • Do you agree with me?
  • You want to say that the laptop you are using is not yours.
    • This laptop doesn't belong to me.
  • You want to say your seat belt is not the right size.
    • My seat belt does not fit (me).
  • You want to say the weight of your engine.
    • My engine weighs _______.
  • You want to say you don't think Brazil will win the next motorcycle race.
    • I doubt Brazil will win the next motorcycle race.
  • You want to say diesel fuel and regular gasoline have a different smell.
    • Diesel and regular gasoline smell different.
  • You want to say that money isn't important.
    • Money doesn't matter.
