That’s not how you do it!

You are going to watch two videos that show a healthcare worker interacting with a patient. One of the videos shows less successful interaction and the next shows a more successful one.

  • What do you think the less successful interaction will look like? 
  • What about the more successful one?

Now watch the two videos below. As you’re watching, think about what the healthcare worker should do differently. 

They use the acronym AIDET to help people remember what to do. If you don't know the term, take notes about what each letter of AIDET stands for.

Talk about it

  • What differences did you notice between the first interaction and the second interaction? What should the healthcare worker have done differently? 
  • Talk about facial expressions and tone of voice in each of the videos. Do they make a difference? 
  • The healthcare worker in the video is an EVS worker. How would the interactions be different if the healthcare worker was in a different department (such as Food Service or a CNA or RN)?
