Present Continuous tense tells us what is happening right now. It is formed with a be-verb + ing-verb.

  • I am reading a good book.
  • You are eating an apple.
  • She is walking to school.
  • He is cleaning his room.
  • It is raining.
  • We are having fun.
  • They are singing.

We can ask someone this question in present continuous tense: What are you doing?

Or we can ask a yes-no question by switching the order of the subject and be-verb:

  • Are you reading?
  • Are you eating?
  • Is she walking?
  • Is he cleaning?
  • Is it raining?
  • Are we having fun?
  • Are they singing?

To make a negative, use not.

  • I am not reading.
  • You are not eating.
  • She is not walking.
  • He is not cleaning.
  • It is not raining.
  • We are not having fun.
  • They are not singing.
