In Unit 7, you learned three rules for using a comma. Here are four more rules:

Adding and Interrupting

We use commas to add extra words, phrases or clauses into the middle, or at the end, of a sentence.

  • Pilotless aircraft, however, is going to be as normal as flying in a today's airplane.
  • You didn't like the ending of the airspace documentary, did you?

Dates

We use commas between information in dates.

  • Humans first landed on the moon on July 20, 1969.
