Located in the United States, the original World Trade Centre was represented by two skyscrapers called the Twin Towers.

At the time, the Twin Towers were the tallest buildings in the world, and were major American landmarks. Thousands of people worked in these buildings every day.

On September 11th 2001, two hijacked airplanes were flown into the buildings. Both skyscrapers were destroyed. There were thousands of casualties and many people lost their lives.

This tragic event was covered by news agencies all around the world. Every year, communities across the US hold memorial services on September 11th to remember those who died.
