Stone castles were built for the sovereigns of Europe. Their strong structures kept out many enemies. Moats often surrounded these castles to prevent enemies from entering.

The Colosseum was an arena-like structure built in ancient Rome. Crowds gathered in the Colosseum to watch many public events and many gladiator fights.
