Part Two: Getting Ready To Write

What is an outline?

An outline is an organized list of information that a writer usually makes prior to writing a text. However, it can also be used as a way of taking brief notes from a written text, a podcast, a lecture, or a workshop at a conference. This information can be used to remind you of some important aspects at a later date or to help you relay information to a third party. An outline should include the main ideas, their supporting ideas, and the organization of the information. Depending on the purpose of the outline, it can also include elements of an introduction and a conclusion.
