Using the Past Continuous
Let's learn about the different ways we can use the past continuous.
Activites in Progress at a Specific Past Time
The past continuous is used to address activities that were in progress in the past. Let's take a look at the following examples:

John: "Why didn't you answer the phone when I called you this afternoon?"
Jack: "Well, I was watching a movie."

Katie: "Why was Ms. Kurtis shouting earlier this morning?"
Bob: "My classmates were talking and she couldn't get them to be quiet."
