- Would you be willing to have one of your organs transplanted or replaced if you were sick and it could save your life? Would it matter to you where the new organ came from? Under what circumstances would you refuse to get a transplant and why?

Exercise
Look at the first paragraph of a larger Reading, which is only an Introduction to the topic. In your group, predict what you believe the rest of the reading will be about and some of the topics that might be discussed. Try to find the General Statement and Thesis Statement in the Introduction and write your summary of them in Exercise 4. Try to rephrase vocabulary as much as possible.
Cloning and Stem Cells
The word “clone” has entered into popular culture through the news and even block-buster movies. Cloning essentially involves the copying of the key genetic information of one organism into an empty egg, which then grows in a host body and eventually develops into an exact replica of the donor of that genetic information. There are many benefits that can result from the process of cloning where many lives could potentially be saved; however, there is also the other side of debate wherein some fear the technology could be abused or even simply be unethical.
