Students work with a partner. Together, students discuss contexts in which the following sentences containing "had better" can be said. It is important students discuss the danger or negative consequence that would arise in each situation.

We'd better hurry.

We could say this if we are running late for something.

Yeah. Maybe we are walking to flight school but air regulations class is going to start in ten minutes. If we are late, the instructor will be very angry.

  5. I had better stay alert.
