In this unit, you learned about extreme sport vacations. Does that sound like something you would like to experience?

  • Imagine if there was an extreme vacation industry in your home city or country. What would that look like?
  • Think about the natural landscape and wildlife in your home town or country. What is the wildest, most extreme vacation you can imagine?

First of all, think about all the activities that you can do on your extreme vacation.

Imagine if your extreme vacation was in Vancouver, BC, Canada. There might not be any sharks around, but what else could we imagine for a holiday there?

Bathtime with Bears

bear

This extreme sport is not for the faint of heart. Bathtime with bears is both thrilling and relaxing. In this activity, adventurous tourists embark on guided tours through the vast British Columbian forest. Their destination is a pond of cool freshwater frequented by grizzly bears from across the province. Bears come here from miles away to chill out and socialise in the clean, refreshing waters. Tourists in this activity will enter the pond with the bears at their own risk! To bathe with a bear requires extreme daring, courage and confidence. Of course, no animals are harmed as a result of this tourism industry. Most tourists refrain from touching the bears, but those few who did take the risk can share terrifying stories of the power of bears! Best to leave the bears to their natural behaviour. Do you have what it takes to take a bath with bears?

Of course, bathtime with bears is not a real activity! Use your imagination and come up with at least three activities that can make up an extreme vacation in your hometown.

When you have thought of three ideas, make a brochure to advertise for your extreme vacation. Try and convince your classmates to come take a vacation at your exotic destination!

Here are some examples to inspire you.
