Making negative sentences in English involves adding not to an auxiliary verb. If there is no auxiliary verb, we use don't, doesn't, or didn't.
- You shouldn't have called the doctor last night.
- He didn't ride in the ambulance this morning.
- She hasn't seen that nurse.
If the meaning of "have" is possession, there are two ways to say it in the present: have or have got. This is only in the present.
- This clinic hasn't got a pharmacist.
- We don't have any medication left.
- She didn't have any allergies. (PAST)
Infinitives and ~ing forms can also be negative.
- We asked you not to prescribe that!
- The nurse told me not to come.
- I love not doing too much exercise.
- Not eating nutritious food is quite unhealthy.
