Have you been for a walk in nature? Then you will know that insects find shelter everywhere! You can't take a step without seeing an insect.

Some insects live in a hive. A hive is where wasps and bees live.

Bees build hives in nature. They look for trees or caves to build them in. A colony of worker bees works hard to build the hive.

Humans also build hives for honey bees. They let them create honey in the hives, and then they take it.

Termites have a very special home. Millions of termites work together to create a termite mound.

Scientists do not know why they build mounds. They don't actually live inside the mound, but build it on top of their nest that is in the ground. Scientists think that it protects the nests below.

Dung beetles have a special kind of house. It may be the grossest insect house of all!

Dung beetles fly around looking for animal poop. When they find it, they bring it back to their houses. The dung is used for food, a home, and to have babies. That's not a house I would like to visit.

Spiders are amazing at building houses. Spiders live on webs. They make their webs from silk that is inside their bodies. They use their back legs to make the web.

The web is not just a home. It also helps the spider catch food. Insects stick to the web and become food for the spider. It is difficult for insects to see.

Some insects don't have a set home. They migrate during different seasons. Migration is when an animal moves from a breeding area to a feeding area.

Locusts and butterflies both migrate. They fly in large groups. There can be up to 10,000,000,000 in one group!

Are you a real fan of bugs? Do you want to help them out? How about building an insect hotel in your garden. Insects can use it to live in. You can give them their very own home!
