Watch this video of a hockey game for a few minutes only. [This is a very long video--it’s the whole 2.5 hour game! You can watch more of it after class if you like it.] While you are watching, ask yourself these questions:
- Is this a “fast” game or a “slow” game? Is it exciting or boring to watch?
- How do the people watching in the stadium feel about the game?
After you watch, discuss these questions with a partner or in a small group.
(Students answer in Exercise 1. Teacher can check the answers in the Answer sheet):
- Who was playing? What are the teams’ names and where are they from?
- This is a very “special” hockey game--why?
- Did you enjoy watching it? Why or why not?
- Do you like to skate?
- Do you think this is a sport that you would enjoy playing?
