Pronunciation of phrasal verbs

Phrasal verbs have some easy to learn word stress rules. Read the list of phrasal verbs. Do you know what these phrasal verbs mean? Check (?) the ones you know. 

 to take over

 to make up

 to drop in on

 to break up

 to sell out

 to let down

If there are any you don't know the meaning of, go to a learner's dictionary to find the definition and lots of examples. 

Listen for word stress

You will see two choices of word stress. For example is it took over or took over?
Listen to the audio. Which do you hear? Drag the earto the correct one.

Pause the audio to check your answer.

Other parts of speech

Sometimes you can make nouns from phrasal verbs. What do you notice about the nouns made from phrasal verbs:
