Discuss the following questions with your partner(s).

  1. Are debates common in your culture? If so, give some examples of where you can see or listen to them. 
  2. Have you ever participated in a debate? If so, talk about it. If not, would you like to? 
  3. After listening or watching a debate (or any formal discussion that you felt strongly about), have you ever expressed your feelings about it in writing? Why or why not?
