This quote describes John’s feelings of excitement when he sailed for America with his father Daniel, his sister Sarah, and his brother David on February 19th, 1849. However, John left behind his Grandmother and Grandfather Gilrye, his mother, Ann, his eldest sister Margaret, his youngest brother Daniel, and his twin sisters Annie and Mary. Imagine that you are John. You are on the ship to America and you are writing a letter to one of your family members back home. Describe what you see and do on the ship and express your excitement about America. What are you expecting it to be like? Follow the friendly letter format. Address a family member of your choice warmly, describe the ship and your expectations of America, and sign your name. Your letter should be at least 100+ words.
