- How many languages can you speak?
- In your opinion, what are some of the differences between learning a first language and a second language?
- Is there anything special about your first language that you think makes it unique? Do you think it would be hard for someone to learn it as a second language?
- Is it important to be polite and respectful in your language? What are some of the ways that people show politeness and respect in your first language?
- Look up the term “political correctness”. What does it mean? Is it a good or bad thing in your opinion?
- How have people’s beliefs about respectful and/or proper language changed over the years? Are there any words or expressions that people used to think were OK but now think are rude or offensive?
