Part One: Warm Up
Look at the following city government plans and discuss the different opinions people in this city might have about each with your partner(s). Try to look at the plan from the perspective of as many different kinds of people as possible. Then, explain, with reasons, whether or not you personally would support each plan if you were a resident of this city.
- Increase safe cycling infrastructure around the city by replacing one driving lane on every major road with a separated bike lane.
- Force residents to recycle by introducing a mandatory recycling program with heavy fines for not sorting items correctly.
- Try to keep the cost of living for renters affordable by limiting the amount that a landlord can increase rent each year or between tenants.
- Reduce noise at unsocial hours by implementing an 11 PM live music curfew.
