The final presentation will be a 4-6 minute speech about a news topic that is important to you. You may choose any aspect of the news to report on. This may be focus on any aspect of the news that you want, be it international, business, political, music, technology, automotive, sports, fashion, opinion or even something from your home country. It should be something large enough to talk about for 4 minutes, but not something so big that you can’t finish in 6 minutes.

Grading

  • Logical Details (20 points). Your details should be logical and necessary to your presentation. You should NOT be simply talking to take up time.
  • Sound Organization (20 points). Your presentation should flow well. It should NOT have large information gaps?
  • Clarity and preparation (20 points). You should present your topic clearly. You should be prepared to speak. You should NOT pause a lot and say things like “ummm, uhhh.”
  • Length (10 points). Your presentation should be at least 4 minutes but no more than 6 minutes. (-1 for every 30 seconds over/under time)
  • Visual Aid (10 points). You should have something we should see. If they are photographs and pictures, they should have some organization. If you have a PowerPoint presentation, it should aid your speech. PowerPoint presentations should NOT be mostly words. PowerPoint should be used for pictures, NOT as digital notecards.
