Rule # 2
When we use or, either...or, neither...nor, or not…but joined with multiple subjects, the verb agrees with the nearest subject.
Singular verb:
- (a) Neither the employees nor the owner wants a strike.
Plural verb:
- (b) Neither the owner nor the employees want a strike.
