This writing lesson focuses on skills related to writing a reflective essay.

Reflective Writing

The purpose of reflective writing is to explain a recent experience you have had by taking into consideration your past context related to the topic or activity explaining what you did and how you did it, and predicting how this experience will affect your skills and knowledge in the future.

Often, a reflective essay is composed by answering a series of questions related to an experience you have recently had.

For example, the first paragraph may address questions related to your past experience or understanding of a topic or activity, the second paragraph could describe the process you undertook during the recent experience, and the third paragraph may try to explain how this experience will affect your understanding and skills in the future.
