Let's face it, sometimes fashion is just weird. People often look at things that are supposed to be fashionable and think to themselves, "I really don't get fashion!" When we look at fashion runways, it's sometimes hard to imagine what the designers were thinking.

Strange fashion started a long time ago. In 1624, King Louis XIII of France noticed that he was balding at an alarming rate. To hide this, he started wearing huge wigs to hide his real hair. Soon, noblemen from all around Europe began adopting this fashion choice. If you see pictures of men from the 16th and 17th centuries, you'll see bigger and bigger wigs and no real hair!

When it comes to unusual and unique fashion, no one does it better than Lady Gaga. She often shows up to events in theatrical outfits that draw a lot of attention. This American pop singer is as famous for her style as she is for her music. In 2009, Lady Gaga dressed up in a very special dress for an interview in Germany. Her dress was made up of puppets of Kermit the Frog, a famous Muppet character.

Lady Gaga chose this outfit soon after reporters in the media said she gained a lot of weight. The outspoken singer wore this outfit as a protest against negative comments about body image. It was her way of telling the media she didn't care what they thought of her, and that her body image was none of their business!

In 2011, Lady Gaga shocked everyone by arriving at the Grammy Awards incubating in a giant rubber egg. She was carried in by several people and did not emerge from the egg until her performance later in the show.

Finally, Lady Gaga's meat dress at the 2010 Video Music Awards has to be her most infamous and bizarre dress of all. This dress was made entirely out of raw meat stitched together. Gaga had to be sewn into the dress backstage. This outfit also had a matching purse, hat, and boots made out of raw meat as well. This unparalleled dress got a lot of attention, especially from animal protection groups. Many of them found the dress offensive.

In 2001, the Icelandic singer Björk wore a unique dress to the Academy Awards. Her dress, now infamously known as the Swan Dress, featured a full-sized white feathered swan draped across her body. At one point, Björk even stopped and pretended to lay an egg.

Some people praised the dress for being so original, as there was nothing quite like it at the time. But the dress was not well-received by everyone; many people saw it as outrageous and outlandish.

These giant and daunting heels were designed by Alexander McQueen. They have been called the Armadillos because of their unusual shape. These heels are 30cm tall—the size of a full ruler. Some of them were adorned with embellishments giving them flashes of brilliance. They are extremely difficult to walk in and are almost twice the height of normal high heels.

It might be difficult to get your hands on some of these fashion items. But Crocs are shoes that are easily within reach. Some people think Crocs are super comfy and they go well with leggings and hoodies. Others think they're frumpy and look like Swiss cheese. Even with such divisive opinions, sales for Crocs soared in 2021.

Would you wear any of these designs? Or do you think they're a fashion faux pas? Maybe you've seen even stranger fashion anecdotally. Whatever you think of these fashion choices, you have to admire these people for their individuality! If you want to become a designer, you can take on the daunting task of creating the next infamous outfit.
