Quantifiers are used to tell you how many of something is. These words come before nouns and pronouns.

  • Mother told you to buy a dozen roses.
  • Are there any advantages of a credit card versus a debit card?

Specific quantifiers are used with specific types of nouns.

Quantifiers with Singular Count Nouns

These following quantifiers are used with singular count nouns:

  • each
  • either
  • every
  • neither
  • Every time I make plans for the beach, it rains!
  • Is it neither a good nor a bad thing?

Quantifiers with plural count nouns:

These following quantifiers are used with plural count nouns:

  • both (of)
  • a bunch (of)
  • a couple (of)
  • either of
  • neither of
  • a few (of)
  • fewer (of)
  • a great many (of)
  • a good many (of)
  • many (of)
  • a number of
  • several (of)
  • There are several different options you can choose from.
  • The complete sequencing of the human genome will have many important effects.
