What are Gerunds?
Gerunds are verbs that end in ing and function as a noun in a sentence. They are found in places where usually we use a noun:

- Car repair is an enjoyable activity.
- Repairing soccer is an enjoyable activity.

- He is thinking about sports.
- He is thinking about playing sports.

- My hobby is photography.
- Her hobby is taking photos.

- Her habit is annoying.
- Her biting her nails is annoying.
We can make negative gerunds by using not + gerund:
- She asked about not paying tax.
- Not sleeping every night is unhealthy.
