Objectives & Sequence: This activity is intended to be used as a review of Grammar - Present Simple #1.
Students work with a partner. Students are to imagine they have the jobs listed below and make sentences about their jobs in the Present Simple.
- Student Two first asks Student One, "What do you do?"
- Student One replies, "I am a (name of job listed)."
- Student One then chooses the right phrase from the table that describes the job and makes a sentence in the Present Simple. If the student is unsure which phrase to use, answers are provided in the form of an audio recording for each job listed.
- Student Two listens and repeats what Student One said but in the third person singular.
Example
Juan and Kyoko are partners. It is Kyoko's turn. The job listed is "teacher". Kyoko chooses the phrase from the table, "work at a high school". If Kyoko is unsure of the answer, she can listen to the audio recording that identifies the correct phrase to be used for the job listed.
What do you do?
I'm a teacher. I work at a high school.
Kyoko is a teacher. She works at a high school.
