Present Continuous

Students learn to use the present continuous to describe actions happening at that moment.

Verbs: At the beach, home, park and school.

Students are introduced to more verbs that are related to four different situations.

9-1 Present Continuous

Students study the present continuous in affirmative, negative and interrogative forms to talk about actions that are happening in the present moment. Rules that are associated with the spelling of present participles is also taught and practiced.

9-2 Present Continuous: Negatives and Questions

The verb ‘to be’ is reviewed in this tense as an auxiliary verb in affirmative and negative. Yes / No questions and information questions are practiced with the present continuous.

9-1 What are you doing today?

Three texts are read about different people and what they are doing in that moment. Students answer comprehension questions about each paragraph.

Using the present continuous and other actions that have been studied, students write about what people are doing in each picture.

9-1 Talk about their day

A dialogue between two people. Students listen to the conversation about what they are doing on that day. Students first have to fill in the gaps, and then answer questions about the information.

9-1 Time Zones around the world.

Students talk about the different world time zones, and then form present continuous sentences about activities that people are doing at certain times of the day. In pairs, students guess which country or part of the world they could be talking about.
