4-1 Articles

The determiners A and An are studied. Students learn how to use them with nouns that start with vowels or consonants, and also with singular and plural nouns.

Students learn about THERE IS and THERE ARE in affirmative, negative and interrogative forms.

4-3 Negative and Questions: there is / there are.

A focus on using ‘any’ with the negative form to express zero quantity of something. Students learn how to ask and answer questions using THERE IS and THERE ARE.

A reading activity about two cities with a focus on introducing different places using THERE IS and THERE ARE. A series of comprehension questions are included.

This writing activity is intended to reinforce the student’s understanding of THERE IS and THERE ARE. Students write about their own city, producing correct sentences with the grammar and vocabulary studied in unit four.
