Forming the simple past regular verbs
规则动词一般过去时形式的构成
| Just add “-ed”. 直接加 -ed |
start → started end → ended watch → watched like → liked |
| Vowel + Consonant, double the consonant and add “-ed”. 元音+辅音，双写辅音字母，再加 -ed Exceptions: “w, x, y” W, x, y结尾的动词除外 |
hug → hugged plan → planned row → rowed fix → fixed play → played |
| Verbs that end with a consonant and “-y”, remove the “-y” and add “-ied”. 以一个辅音加y结尾的动词，去掉y，加 –ied |
study → studied cry → cried |
